Thames & Kosmos STEM Roller Coaster Engineering Kit 305 plastic pieces 6 years+

The Thames & Kosmos Engineering STEM Roller Coaster kit brings physics to life through hands-on construction. Children build and experiment with dozens of roller coaster models, and learning the physics of force, motion, and energy becomes as fun as a day at an amusement park. The construction system is easy and modular, allowing for a series of hands-on physics and engineering lessons in an action-packed way.

First, assemble the frame structures, then attach the flexible tracks to build and test endless roller coaster models. Children can experiment by varying the weight of the cars in relation to the slope, length, and direction of the track. This provides a practical introduction to many physics principles, including gravity, potential energy, kinetic energy, free fall, projectile motion, friction, centripetal force, velocity, and acceleration.

The kit proposes a series of engineering challenges: what is the tallest roller coaster they can build, what is the longest straight line, and can they build a loop-the-loop? A large, full-color manual guides the child with step-by-step illustrated instructions. The kit contains 305 pieces, 20 experiments, and the instruction manual, offering hours of guided scientific exploration for young engineers.

The product is made of plastic. It received a distinction in the 2022 Purdue University Engineering Gift Guide. The recommended age is 6+ with an adult and 8+ years independently. Adult supervision is recommended while the child is playing. Read the instructions before use, follow them, and keep them for reference. Made in Taiwan for Thames & Kosmos, England.
