Gigo Toys STEM Electricity and Magnetism Kit, 137 plastic pieces, 8+ years

The Gigo Toys Electricity and Magnetism STEM Kit offers children engaging experiments with electrical circuits and magnetic devices to help them understand electricity, magnetism, and the close connection between these two fundamental properties. Children build series and parallel circuits to light a bulb, experiment with buttons and on-off switches, and assemble circuits that include a spinning motor, two switches, and up to three bulbs.

The magnetism section allows the child to test which materials are magnetic, learn about magnetic force and magnetic poles, magnetize metal, and use iron filings to make invisible magnetic fields visible. Using a magnetic pendulum device, they investigate magnetic force and direction, learn how a compass works and about the Earth's magnetic fields, and then perform a series of experiments with an electromagnet.

Finally, the child puts everything they have learned into practice by building a speaker, an electromagnetic relay switch, and a Morse code telegraph key. The components are specially designed to make learning fun and accessible: the electrical blocks snap together using simple plug-and-socket connectors, and because they are brightly colored and uniquely shaped, it is easy to follow assembly diagrams to build functional devices.

The kit contains 137 components for building and experimenting and a 50-page, full-color instruction manual that guides the child through experiments with easy-to-follow diagrams. Each model highlights a different principle, from simple electrical circuits to functional electromagnets and mechanical devices powered by magnetic fields. The product is made of plastic and is manufactured in Taiwan by Genius Toys. It requires 2 AA / LR06 batteries, which are not included.
