Classic diapers have side tabs that allow them to be fully opened and fastened. This is handy when you want to quickly change a wet diaper without taking off your baby's pants and shoes.

Pull-up diapers, on the other hand, have a single, all-around elastic and flexible waistband, and they are removed by simply tearing the sides of the diaper, without allowing them to be refastened.
