Thames & Kosmos STEM Kit Intelligent Robots 8 models 230 pieces, 8+ years, robotics and programming

The Intelligent Robots STEM kit from Thames & Kosmos brings robotics into the homes of young inventors through a complete set of 230 parts from which 8 different robot models can be assembled. Each robot can be equipped with sensors, motors, and smart functions, and children can control and program them directly from their phone or tablet via the dedicated app. It is a simple, fun, and customizable introduction to an interdisciplinary field that combines physics, engineering, and computer science.

With this kit, children build eight motorized robots controlled by programs and an ultrasonic sensor. They code the programs using a simple and visual programming app on a tablet or smartphone, which connects to the robot models via a wireless Bluetooth connection. Thus, they learn the basic steps of visual programming while seeing the effect of their commands on the real robots they have built with their own hands.

The ultrasonic sensor works on the same principle as sonar: it sends out sound waves that bounce off objects, and the sensor interprets the returning echoes to detect objects in its path. Using the app's interface, the built robots can be programmed to behave based on feedback from the ultrasonic sensor, controlling movements, lights, and sounds according to their environment.

The set includes a motor, sensors, a control unit, and a visual programming app, plus an illustrated manual that guides assembly and programming step by step. It is recommended for children interested in science and technology for educational and fun family activities, and as an introduction to programming and robotics. The free app is compatible with iOS and Android and offers control and programming functions, and the product contains 230 pieces, an integrated keypad, and the illustrated manual. The product is manufactured by Gigo, Taiwan for Thames & Kosmos.
