The set includes a 16 mm breast shield, tubing, a valve (consumable part), a backflow protector system to prevent milk from entering the motor, a 160 ml bottle with a soft newborn-flow teat, and a tubing adapter for Dual Compact and Dual S pumps. Each component has been selected to fit the Spectra pumping system.

For maintenance, after each use, disassemble and wash all components that come into contact with the breast and breast milk - breast shield, silicone valve, teat, disc, screw ring, bottle, and bottle cap - in warm soapy water. All kit components are dishwasher safe. Rinse with clean water, allow the components to air dry, and cover them when not in use. Before each use, parts that come into contact with breast milk must be sterilized by immersion in boiling water or using a steam/UV sterilizer.

Periodically check the tubing for condensation or milk; if present, dry it immediately or replace the tubing. The valve is a consumable part and it is recommended to replace it every 3 months or sooner if it shows signs of wear. To choose the breast shield size, measure the diameter of the nipple after a breastfeeding or pumping session and add 3-5 mm. A breast shield that is too small can cause friction, pressure, or pain, while one that is too large can pull the areola into the tunnel and reduce collection efficiency. Breast milk can be stored in the refrigerator for 24 hours and in the freezer for up to 3 months; do not microwave or boil it.

1. Measure the diameter of the nipple after a breastfeeding or pumping session.
