Djeco Mosquito speed and observation game for ages 5+, made of paper and cardboard, for 2-4 players
The Mosquito speed and observation game from Djeco is a game of reflexes and speed featuring symbols of an apple, a mosquito, a flower, and bees. The goal is simple: be the first to correctly perform the action indicated by the flipped cards. With no time for thinking, the game requires immediate reaction and keeps the child focused throughout every round.
The box contents include 48 playing cards, 25 Ladybug tokens, 7 plastic figurines (4 bees, a mosquito, a flower, and an apple), and a rulebook in 10 languages. Setup involves placing the apple, the mosquito, and the flowers in the middle of the table, at an equal distance from all players, and each player receives one bee figurine. The ladybug tokens form the game bank.
The 48 cards are shuffled and distributed equally among the players, who place them face down without looking at them. All players say 1, 2, 3 aloud and flip the top card at the same time. If two cards with the same symbol appear, an action is triggered: for two mosquitoes, everyone must quickly slap the mosquito figurine; for two apples, everyone tries to grab the apple; and for two bees, each player must take their own bee and place it on one of the two flowers, with each flower only able to accommodate one bee.
The round is won by the fastest player to perform the correct action, who then receives a ladybug token from the bank; a wrong action costs a token, if the player has one. The game ends when all cards have been exhausted, and the person who has collected the most tokens wins. The game develops powers of observation, attention to detail, reaction speed, visual memory, and logical thinking, encouraging interaction and competition in a fun way. The simple format is easy to explain, is played by 2-4 players, and is produced by Djeco in France.
